Associations Between Poor Glycemic Control and Breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 Infection

It is well known that glycemic control affects immune response in T2DM patients, however, it is yet uncertain whether poor glycemic control can affect SARS-COV2 mRNA vaccine efficacy. A study was conducted among healthcare and education workers with T2DM to explore the association between glycemic control and breakthrough infections after vaccination.

Poor Glycemic Control is Associated with an Increased Incidence of SARS-COV-2 Breakthrough HbA1c Infections in Vaccinated T2DM Patients

T2DM: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, HbA1c: Glycated Hemoglobin, SARS-COV-2: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2,
HR: Hazard Ratio, CD4: Cluster of Differentiation 4, mRNA: Messenger ribonucleic acid.
